Disc brake gearbox ratios
Is this disc brake gearbox from a 2cv or from a Dyane/Acadiane/Ami8?
Method 1:
- Remove the gearbox lid.
- Count the number of teeth on the front most gear on the uppershaft.
- 19 teeth is 2cv, 20 teeth is dyane/acadiane/ami.
Method 2:
- With gearbox in the car:
- Jack up one wheel.
- Put the car in first gear.
- Mark a point on the ventilator.
- While turning the lifted wheel 1 revolution, check how many revolutions the ventilator makes.
- With a seperate gearbox:
- Block 1 driveshaft end.
- Put the gearbox in first gear.
- Mark a point on the input shaft (use old clutch plate or a welding clamp).
- While turning the other driveshaft end 1 revolution, check how many revolutions the input shaft makes.
- On a 2cv gearbox, the ventilator / input shaft makes 10 3/4 revolutions.
- On a Dyane/Acadiane/Ami8 gearbox, the ventilator / input shaft makes 11 1/4 revolutions.
- Note that the difference is only half a revolution!
Method 3:
- Jack up one wheel.
- Put the car in 4th gear.
- Mark a point on the ventilator.
- While turning the lifted wheel 1 revolution, check how many revolutions the ventilator makes.
- On a 2cv gearbox, the ventilator makes 2 3/4 revolutions.
- On a Dyane/Acadiane/Ami8 gearbox, the ventilator makes 2 1/2 revolutions.
- Note that the difference is only a quarter a revolution!
